Location: Santa Ana, CA  | 100% Onsite
Position: Full-Time, Exempt
Pay Range: $100,000 - $130,000/year

We are seeking a Controller who will play a key role in our financial leadership team, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight across all financial operations. What You’ll Do:

• Oversee preparation and analysis of GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for leadership and the board.
• Manage audits, compliance (including government funding), and internal controls.
• Supervise and mentor a small finance team.
• Present to leadership and serve as a future member of the Finance Committee.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting
• Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and present financial reports to the CFO, senior leadership, and the Board Treasurer, highlighting key metrics and trends.
• Assist with month-end closing to ensure timely and accurate financial results.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead the development and management of budgets.
• Monitor financial performance and provide accurate forecasts to guide strategic decision-making.

Audit & Compliance
• Coordinate internal and external audits, addressing findings and ensuring compliance with government funding and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor compliance with grant providers and funders, including reporting obligations.

Team Leadership & Development
• Manage, coach, and support a small team of Business & Finance Associates.
• Foster a culture of growth mindset, accountability, and collaboration.

Internal Controls & Systems
• Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of records.
• Support the optimization of accounting systems (QuickBooks, Kindful giving platform) and reporting processes.

Strategic Engagement
• Partner with the CFO on long-term financial planning and succession planning.
• Serve as a future member of the Finance Committee.
• Represent the finance function with executive presence, including delivering presentations to leadership, staff, and board members.

What You Bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA preferred).
• 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 2+ years supervising staff.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel; experience with donor/giving platforms (Kindful a plus).
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and inform decisions.
• Proven success leading teams with a growth mindset and collaborative approach.
