Project Name: People for Housing OC
FLSA Classification: Fulltime, Non-Exempt
Entity: OneOC
Supervises Others: No
Pay: $28 - $35 per hour
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
People for Housing OC was founded in 2017 as Orange County's YIMBY (Yes In My Backyard) organization, advocating for housing solutions that increase affordability, accessibility, and opportunity throughout Orange County. The organization works to advance housing production, community education, advocacy, and coalition-building efforts that support diverse housing options for residents. People for Housing OC is a fiscally sponsored project of OneOC, which provides administrative support services including human resources, payroll, accounting, and operational infrastructure.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS:
California is facing a housing affordability crisis, and Orange County is at the center of it. People for Housing OC is a grassroots advocacy organization working to increase housing opportunities through education, community engagement, and advocacy. We believe housing is a nonpartisan issue and are seeking someone who shares that commitment.
This role is at the forefront of that work, attending public meetings, building coalitions, delivering trainings, and helping community members engage in one of the most important public policy issues facing our region.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
This is a public-facing, full-time position that blends community outreach, public advocacy, education, and communications. The Housing Advocacy Organizer will build relationships with urbanists, advocates, elected officials, community-based organizations (CBOs), housing developers, and other stakeholders with diverse perspectives, and organize them around the shared goal of increasing housing opportunities throughout Orange County.
This role operates in an evolving environment where not all processes are fully defined. Success requires adaptability, sound judgment, and the ability to adjust as priorities and systems evolve. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating ambiguity and contributing to the continued growth and development of the organization's advocacy and community engagement efforts.

OneOC
OneOC was founded originally in 1958 as Newport Bureau of Volunteerism, the very first community service project of the Junior League of Orange County. Newport Bureau of Volunteerism then became the Volunteer Center Orange County.
In 2010, the organization rebranded to become OneOC, signaling our expanded services to nonprofits across the county. Since our early beginnings, we have developed ways for people to best use their valuable time and talent to help others. OneOC holds a 60-year track record of encouraging people to become personally involved in making our community a good and welcoming place to live, work, and raise a family.
Presently
We have grown and matured into the largest and most comprehensive of the 250 volunteer centers nationwide, partnering with Points of Light Institute, HandsOn Network and California Volunteers. In 2015, OneOC expanded its services to help companies build and grow their giving and employee volunteering programs.
Celebrating 65

In 2023, OneOC commemorated 65 years of connecting nonprofits, companies, and volunteers together to create greater social impact for Orange County. OneOC is grateful for the continued support of our community and looks forward to the next 60 years to come.
